Crazy Chicken Coming to Uptown

It appears that a new fast food restaurant, "El Pollo Loco," will be opening at Wilson and Sheridan at the site of the former Blight, I mean, "Burger King" this fall. Our thanks to "asurfc2" from BPN for finding this. This will be the second "El Pollo Loco" in Chicago. Welcome, El Pollo Loco!

  1. Your welcome, but also it will be the 2nd Pollo Loco in Chicago. The first on is at:

    2715 N Milwaukee Avenue - 1st Floor
    Chicago, IL 60647

  2. We stand corrected asurfc2. How did you come across the fact that they were opening one in Chicago to begin with? Good detective work!

  3. I will give credit where credit is due. A friend contacted the Alderman's Office regarding the unsecured property, and the staff at the 46th Ward Office responded that Pollo Loco had filed permits and that the place should be under construction soon. Then I looked it up on the Pollo Loco website

  4. Do you think they will tear down the exisiting BK and rebuild? If they are planning to be open in the fall we kind of doubt it. What do you think?
We'd like to think our little blog, in some way, is putting pressure on people to be responsible for their actions. We're sure Jerry Olson received a few calls after we posted the mess that that property had become.
Let's hope "El Pollo Loco" is a nice neighbor for us all.

  5. Well, I for one am quite glad that something is going into that spot. And if it is good, I'll welcome the change of pace.

I think the big test will be how they handle the crowd that hangs out in that area. I hope they are proactive, because they might actually effect a bit of change.

  6. I am glad it will be there but I hope it makes it financially. Does't seem like a good location to me.

  7. -r, (that is your new name, as you are incredibly negative)

What makes you think that intersection can not support fast food? Is it the 15+ years the McDonalds has been there? Or the 10+ years Burger King was there before the past owner lost his franchise rights for violating his contract?

  8. Time will tell and we will see. I hope it does make it I am just being a realist. I am glad to see that corner being developed.

  9. -r,

Please explain how you are being a realist; you are implying the opposite of what has been true for years. That corner has successfully supported fast food restaurants for years, so saying you don't think it is a good location for fast food is not being realistic it is being pessimistic.

I am wrong about a lot things it was just an opinion. I hope it does make it as well. What I hope it doesn't become a hangout spot like across the street currently from the McDonald's.
