"Curious Creatures" Coming Soon

What has Uptown been missing? A reptile superstore!

The wait is over, as "Curious Creatures" will soon be here to fulfill that need.

A reader snapped this photo at 4131 North Broadway, near Buena.  He mentions that the storefront has been undergoing a paint job.  "Exciting to see new businesses filling the empty storefronts along Broadway!"

As things start to hatch, we'll keep you up on what's going on.

Update from the comments:  "Hi my name is Alison and I am one of the owners of Curious Creatures! We are excited to be serving Uptown and the greater Chicago area with all your reptilian needs. We will also have a section for all you dog and cat lovers, we will have treats, toys, and healthy and organic food from Pure Vita and Nutri Source.Hope to see all you soon!!"

  1. What an interesting new store to add to our neighborhood. Hopefully, they will not sell the venomous snakes that are illegal to purchase/buy.

  5. I am thinking about getting a small iguana. However, I'm not sure if they are compatible with small dogs?

    1. Maybe they will have a nice little Komodo dragon you can get for your little dog as a playmate....

    2. Americanlt,

why am I not surprised you worked your dog, Mister Poochy, into this conversation?

I think I've found a reptile appropriate for you to bring home.

First alcohol related businesses were your obsession. Now let's add pet stores specializing in reptiles.

This schtick you have going here could turn into decades long performance art.

    3. Now kids, stop fighting. There's room on this blog for IrishPirate's decade long schtick, and for americanlt's.

I can't wait for this shop to open!

    2. I am so excited for this store to open! We live in the neighborhood and have two reptiles! Question, will you be breeding and selling reptiles themselves or just supplies? Either way, we are so stoked.

    3. HI Alison I was wondering where to go to contact someone about potential job opportunities. I am personally very excited for a pet store to be headed to this location, perfect for all my pets specialty food needs!

  7. I cant even think of another pet store in the city that specializes in reptiles? So, hopefully, this business will succeed. I'm thinking about getting a baby ball python. They are good tempered & easy to keep snakes.

    1. Perfect! Baby ball pythons grow into BIG pythons...and you won't have to worry about feeding it rats, since Mr. Poochy will be a perfect snack!

    2. There is one other location that I can think of but they are in skokie, I hope this shop has as many reptiles and other selections as they do, if they do I know they will be successful. The other shop has been around for over 10 years! There is a need for a good pet store in this area!

    3. @bear60640: Ball pythons DO NOT grow up to be big pythons. most top about at 4 feet and around 5 pounds. And they can live upwards of 30 years. Please don't spread inaccurate information. There is too much false information about reptiles as it is.

    4. Teresa, babies are a fraction the size of adults. And now that you've proven you can google irrelevant information and that you don't understand the purpose of my post, I will tell you don't lecture a herpetologist about herpetology. I've likely done more to educate people about snakes over the years than you've thought about the critters.

  8. Personally l believe that you will not find anyone else who is more passionate and dedicated to the health and well being of a animal.
To that I say, congratulations on your new adventure. I'm proudly
support you and will help in anyway.
Know they have a large support group of breeders, vets and friends
    at their disposal.
