Mind Officially Blown.

On June 14th and 15th, the Aragon and Uptown will host the Mods vs. Rockers Vintage Motorcycle and Scooter Rally, which this year includes a Hot Rod Rally, Film Fest, Outdoor Rockabilly Concert, Pin-Up Contest, and All-Night Dance Party at Fat Cat.  It's the ninth year in Chicago, but the first in Uptown.  The move to the Aragon makes it possible for the show to nearly double in size, making it the largest of its kind in the country.  It was previously held on Lincoln Avenue in Lakeview.

According to the press release, "The event, presented by Steel Toe Press and Uptown Events, will feature more than 1,000 vintage motorcycles, scooters and hot rod vehicles on display in the outdoor Aragon event lot from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., and continues at 6p.m. with the “Rockabilly Rumble,” live performances by the Reverend Horton Heat, JD McPherson, “Stray Cat” Lee Rocker, and the Supersuckers on the historic Aragon Ballroom stage.

The daytime rally includes an outdoor stage with live performances by “The Million Dollar Quartet,” The Dyes, Bama Lamas, and Krank Daddies. The event also features an outdoor pub, motorcycle film festival and a vintage pinup contest with $500 cash prize. Ballot-determined trophies will be awarded to vehicle owners in 16 categories at 5:30 p.m. Doors for the evening concert open at 6 p.m.

Daytime spectator admission to the rally is $10. Evening concert admission is $30. All access passes for the daytime event and evening concert are $40. Tickets are available at ModsvsRockersChicago.com. Vehicle registration for the main event is $10, and vehicle owners can register at ModsvsRockersChicago.com."

  1. This is gonna be great! Glad it's being held in Uptown this year. This is exactly the sort of thing that belongs in an "Entertainment District".

  2. Where exactly is the outdoor stage? What direction is it facing? Why did no one bother to ask the neighbors about this outdoor staging? I get that we are trying to make Uptown a music destination, but lets also remember thousands of residents with families and kids also live here and it would be nice to have them included in some of these seemingly arbitrary decisions.

We would like to have some of our summer weekends free of all the traffic and noise...

  3. You've gotta be kidding! Uptown weekends are never free of all the traffic and noise. For that, you're in the wrong neighborhood. It's an Entertainment District and a Lakefront Community. Want quiet and deserted? Get ridda the beach, the park, the Aragon, the Riviera, the fire station, the hospitals, the L. Until you do there will be traffic and noise.
