Sherman, Set The WABAC Machine To ... 1919

This is a huge, detailed photo.
Click to see it in its original size.
Reader "Dawn" sent us this photo of the Wilson el nearly a century ago, when it boasted a design by Frank Lloyd Wright.  (Can you imagine ... one of the most famous architects in the world, designing for a challenging space here in Uptown?)  You can read more about it here and see more photos of different views of the station here.

In 1923, the famed "clock arch" over the Wilson/Broadway grand entrance was constructed, so this predates even that long-lamented piece of Wilson el history.

  1. Nice reference to one of the best cartoons of all time.
They were part of the bullwinkle show right?

  2. The WABAC machine was owned by Professor Peabody (a dog) and his pet boy. It was a regular clip on the Bullwinkle show and one of the good ones.
