You've Been Tagged!

Driving through the neighborhood Sunday, after Saturday’s successful anti-violence rally, an Update Update reader couldn’t help but notice that Shiller’s hood had been graffiti-bombed overnight. It looks like our alderman has some work to do if, or when, she ever shows up for work Monday morning. The bombers hit her “turf” this time.

- across the street from her office, at the spot where Francis Oduro Jr. was murdered

- across the street from her office, at Peter Holsten’s Graeme Stewart School Park

- on the 1100 W. Wilson Avenue, near Wilson Men’s Club and Truman College

- around the Shiller-controlled Uplift School.

Put in those graffiti removal requests, alderman!

  1. I called 311 about the Wilson Ave stuff on Saturday morning, but the more calls the better!

  2. We should add a countdown clock on this as well to see how long it takes to get cleaned up

  3. What graffiti? I don't see any graffiti.

There's graffiti all over the city, so even if there were any where you say that there isn't, or couldn't even be, which I don't think that there is, then'd you'd be better served living in Lincoln Park where there is no graffiti, whatsoever and you wouldn't feel it necessary to bash on the poor, you ignorant, racist, elitist white condo owning bad apple punk.

    Diversity!

  4. Actually the City is real good about cleaning up graffiti!

  5. Just a quick question please. When did being white become a crime? I note many of the Shillerista's bash white folks but claim they want diversity. Would that be for everyone EXCEPT anglo's? Just curious...

  6. Get used to the Shillerista tactics. We may be on the path to elect this very dogma.

  7. 12:39's comment was obviously a parody - a pretty funny one - but some of the troll comments and accusations of racism in yesterday's thread were disgusting.

  8. What is actually so freaking hilarious about the Shilleristas is that so many of them ARE white! So, their "diversity" does extend to white people if and only if you tow the party line. Marc Kaplan-white. George Atkins-white. JPUSA leadership-white. Helen & Brendon Shiller-white. Anyone else I should add?

Maybe that is why they feel so comfortable spewing their racist trolling all over this blog. I don't think I could think about what my ancestors went through & what my great-grands went through and pretend to be a racist just to get a rise out of someone or "catch" them saying something bad. If you take it seriously (as you should) you just can't bring yourself to do it. It is so twisted and wrong.

  9. Let's get back to the issue on this post, graffiti - call it in, call it in, call it in.. or you can go online and request it.

  10. They are fine with diversity as long as everyone is just like them!

  11. The attempts to turn this into a racial are as transparent as Saran Wrap. Pit the minority group against the majority group and Shiller's minions can exploit this (she can't come out and say it, of course, but...) and turn it into an easily digestible issue for people to take to the polls. But there are just as many minority members of this community (black, latino, asian), who are fed up wtih crime too. What the f*ck does race have to do with wanting to see graffiti erased?

  12. "What the f*ck does race have to do with wanting to see graffiti erased?"

No one's said it does! (at least in this comments thread) 12:39 was a parody post. I'd love to see someone try with a straight face to paint being against gang graffiti as racist.

  13. Do any of you bloggers every think people might just be f-en with you because you actually take bloggs seriously.

That sometimes it fun to take the other side just to get you all going!

  14. Many blacks consider graffiti to be black "urban art" and therefore think that whites wanting to remove it are racist.

As a black man who can write like a white when needed, I question why all you racists want the urban art erased. Is that your way of trying to erase the black presence in your neighborhood?

Why are you posting photos of this fine urban art as if it were in some way harmful? I think it's beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Anon 2:49 - you're kidding, right?

If you think it is beautiful, feel free to spray away on your own property. No one has the right to deface another person's property. It's illegal.

  16. 3:02 - you seriously can't tell that he was joking? Jesus.

  17. "If you think it is beautiful, feel free to spray away on your own property. No one has the right to deface another person's property. It's illegal."

Killing people is illegal too but you haven't stopped that either. Besides, blacks who create "urban art" have no concept of "private property"...it is all community property.

  18. Stop it. Just stop it. Enough race dialogue.

It's giving me flashbacks to the 60's. No one - except a few residual hippy dippy chicks in this neighborhood (who shall remain nameless) even think like that anymore. It's the new millineum and that trash talk was relavent 45 years ago. Let it rest.

  19. The accusations of racism are likely not gonna stop because it's such an easy and incendiary button to push for the Shiller trolls. We need to simply ignore the nonsense and stay focused on what's important.

  20. I am a tag. Tags are gender neutral, so I can't be gay. I can't really do anything because I'm a tag, so I could never have tagged before. The guys and girls I am seeing are all races. I can be found in Uptown. I will never own a condo.

    What does that make me?

  21. Aww... it looks like martial law was declared on the forum.

    Sad day!

And the threads were actually getting heated, and GOING SOMEWHERE for once.

Though, the original should be re-posted so that people understand this:

I am a tag. Tags are gender neutral, so I can't be gay. I can't really do anything because I'm a tag, so I could never have tagged before. The guys and girls I am seeing are all races. I can be found in Uptown. I will never own a condo.

  22. Alright! looks like Uptown Update has something against the GAY population living in Uptown!

All of their posts are gone! Looks like it is time to go after the gays too!

    Rally, anyone?

    ;)

  23. put in a request for the alley behind Unique Thrift as well... their compactor has been tagged...

  24. I'm depressed by the direction the comments have taken ever since Saturday. It's obvious that some new group has taken upon itself to come in and disrupt things through baseless accusations, lampooning of various stereotypes, and stupid almost nonsensical tangents. Surprised that the longtime regulars haven't been up to the task of tuning these idiots out.

  25. Notice how the trolls have turned a thread about GANG GRAFFITI into one about racists and homophobes.

    Don't fall for it!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. There were actually some posts that came up about gang grafitti AND homosexuality AND racism, and it was bundled into one nice little package, BUT... someone deleted it.

  27. 7:28 -

Oh, I'm sorry, do you live in Uptown? Do you deal with this stuff on a daily basis? Do you walk the streets at night? Have you looked outside lately or talked to anyone, that's right, ANYONE on the streets?

Face it, Uptown has issues, and the people want to bring them up.

Let them. It's the only way anyone will hear it, and it's the only way anyone else will stand up for them, beside them, or against them.

A little motivation never harmed anyone.

  28. 7:35 -

I don't think you should instantly go about making assumptions and calling people "trolls," as it doesn't really flatter your statements to begin with.

I believe all that 'edgewaterpride' was trying to put out on the table for everyone is that on top of the tagging problem and gang violence, there are a TON of issues in Uptown right now that need to be addressed, and we all want answers.

Thing is... we just aren't getting them fast enough...

Hence, 'edgewaterpride' was just stating that by having one more thing to add on, it could be the straw that broke the camel's back.

Or... we just have a weak alderwoman to begin with...

    ReplyDelete
  29. Please, for my own amusement...

someone has to post an image, or a link to what one of these "trolls" looks like.

    love your sweet sarcasm passivereflex!!

    where have you been?

    ReplyDelete
  30. yep I think the rally pissed off a lot of non helen supporters too actually

    ReplyDelete
  31. hazel(nut)!

i've been shaking babies and kissing hands. also dodged a few bullets here and there, played with my shiller voodoo doll, watched the gay people get censored, cleaned some gang tags off of my cat and computer monitor - they are everywhere!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I want to spray paint a lawn chair but I can't buy spray paint in Chicago because it's illegal...yet the taggers have spraypaint.

I want to own a gun for self protection but I can't own a gun in Chicago because it's illegal...yet the gangbangers have guns.

Does anyone see how insane these Democrat laws are?

    ReplyDelete
  33. It is so obvious that Shiller and Friends don't want the press and others to check this blog this week to pick up any news on the rally or on Francis Oduro's murder or on the issues surrounding crime in this neighrborhood.

SO, they are disrupting the blog the same way they used to disrupt CAPS meetings. How interesting. They failed to kill CAPS with all their shouting and yelling. They failed to kill CAPS with all their trumped up charges of racism and classism. They will fail at this too. oh and the earlier poster was correct. Most of the people making these outrageous racial charges are white themselves.

  34. And another day and nearly 40 posts later. Let's cut through the distractions.

What has our Alderman done today to address crime in Uptown? What has our Alderman done to respond to anyone who has called her office for months asking for a response to our concerns?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Well, it looks like we will just have to cut and paste versions of anonymous 10:17 into the comments section over and over again until these imbeciles are done throwing their temper tantrum.

This response is shocking and has stooped to a level that I would not think possible. It is absolutely disgraceful. Citizens have a right to protest in the streets. Citizens have a right to criticize elected officials. I shouldn't need to point that out to these people.
