Check Out 'Tiztal Cafe' At Clark And Leland

We featured a small blurb a while back about "Tiztal Cafe" on Clark between Leland and Wilson, but think its well worth another mention. Several readers have emailed us to rave about the food (primarily brunch food but they plan to expand the menu soon), and fresh squeezed juices. If you are looking for a great place for brunch in the neighborhood (besides our favorite Unique So Chique) be sure to check them out. We also heard that there will soon be an outdoor patio area for dining in the back section of the building. Check out the Yelp listing for this restaurant. Call 773-271-4631 for hours and info and tell them Uptown Update sent you!

  1. Haven't tried Tiztal yet. I walked by after trying Thai on Clark which by the way was rather excellent. Pot Stickers are yum.

    I'll try Tiztal this weekend.

  2. Titzal and the Thai place are conveniently located to that no-cover gem, Carol's, should you want some country music/country folk entertainment after dinner. With those fancy condos going up across the street, I worry about this bar's future. For years it served as a home away from home, albeit a sometimes entertaingly rowdy one, for many migrants from Appalachia.

  4. This place is excellent. I predict when word gets out, there will be a line out the door.

  5. Here comes good old NEGATIVE Billyjoe.

    Condo's are bad, mmmmmka.

Billy Joe = Shiller's under paid computer hen peckers.

I agree. There is nothing worse for business than potential customers moving in right across the street.

  7. Just tried Tiztal. It was great! :-) The owners are super friendly too...

I had the Leslie Scrambler and my boyfriend had some freshly-squeezed OJ and a waffle. Both of us were very happy with our choices!

  8. Carol's is a cool and unique Chicago place, but it has already lost a lot of it's Appalachian constituency as the old Uptown hillbillys have largely moved on. There are still pockets of them here, but nothing close to the numbers that used to exist. The old Carol's is already gone--a shadow of its former self.

I'm happy for this new Tiztal place along a stretch of underused commercial space.
