"Spotted Pig" Spotted on Wilson

Looks like the retail space in the 1200 block of Wilson (next to Magnolia Cafe and Faz's Bakery) will soon be getting some company. We noticed a sign in the window of 1228 Wilson announcing "The Spotted Pig Market" opening in July. Let's hope this retail trend continues.

  1. That's great! But what's the Spotted Pig? Restaurant? Food store? Other retail?

  2. We have no clue. "Market" is in quotes, so we assume it will be retail of some sort.

  3. I think it's a sex shop.

  4. Well we hadn't thought of that. What leads you to believe that?

  5. I think it Helen's new office.

  6. Now now...We're going to wager its some sort of antiques store, like the "Third Age" was where Nick's on Wilson is now.

  7. The Spotted Pig is a popular pub/restaurant in Chelsea (NYC). I wonder if we're getting a branch here? That would be amazing.

  8. The Spotted Pig, the Wilde Pug, the Fat Cat . . . the Uptown zoo keeps getting larger!

All joking aside, it is great to see people are still taking a chance on our neighbrhood.

  9. I don't think the Spotted Pig from NYC would come to Uptown. I think some famous chef owns that one in NYC and won't find Uptown the place to be. Plus liguor licenses are hard to come by.

  10. The Spotted Pig Market is not a sex shop. Jack O'Halleran's newest fine foods creation. Jack has been the Executive Pastry Chef/ Fairmont Chicago and Executive Sous Chef/ Marriott for the past 18 years. I just can't wait for the BYOB BBQ Brunch. The garden will also feature an area for local children. The outdoor garden will be open soon. Enjoy breakfast, lunch, lite dinner in the outside garden. To-go,Catering ans inside and outside dining.
    Thanks

  13. Has everyone tried Faz's? they've got a lot of great baked goods, more than you'd think from their size. and their sandwiches are amazing. And no, i'm not one of the owners.

  14. To second what webcat said, Faz's is really good. Great sandwiches and reasonably priced too. I haven't tried their baked goods yet, but have had a delicious milkshake.

  15. Lets see. Who would accuse someone of racism, call for a boycott of their business and claim that the person "fights" with the Alderman's office? Who might have a bone to pick with someone who runs a successful business that draws property owners? The phrase "Move to Lincoln Park" comes to mind.

  16. I'm confused. Faz is the bakery, magnolia is the cafe and someone is a liar. Faz has been great so far and Magnolia has been here for 5+ years and very generous to the neighborhood . I have no idea what the spotted pig is, but bad mouthing your neighbors before you even open does not win my business.

  18. That incohesive, racist rant has been deleted. Carry on.

  19. Why have the signs been removed from the window?

  20. The Pig Market is dead. They took down all the signs and have a For Rent sign up.
Thanks again Hellen Schiller for killing another business. You are the queen of crap.
