Spread The Love - With PB&J Donations

From Ald. Cappleman:

"During the month of February, my office is sponsoring a “Spread the Love” food drive, collecting donations of peanut butter and jelly to benefit Lakeview Pantry.

Community members are very generous to Lakeview Pantry during the holiday season, with many food drives held in November and December. But the pantry typically sees a large drop-off in food drives through the spring, even though the need remains high.

That’s where we come in. I am asking you to “Spread The Love” by dropping off donations of unopened jars of peanut butter and jelly at my office (4544 North Broadway) during February.

Here are some great reasons to donate peanut butter and jelly during our food drive:
  • Lakeview Pantry uses a choice-based system, so rather than providing pre-selected foods, the Pantry allows those who visit to choose the items they want. Donations from food drives allow the Pantry to offer more choices.
  • Typically, the Pantry gets items such as jelly from a wholesaler or the Greater Chicago Food Depository, and might receive only one flavor. A food drive brings in the same item in many flavors, providing a lot more variety.
  • Peanut butter is a relatively expensive item for the Pantry to purchase, and it is always in high demand.

For drop off, my office is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. (Please note that the office will be closed on Monday, Feb. 12, and Monday, Feb. 19, in observance of holidays.)

Show kindness this Valentine’s Day and stop by to 'Spread The Love.'"
