Wine & Cheese Shop Files Application To Open In Former Shake Rattle & Read Storefront

A public notice sign went up this weekend at the former Shake Rattle & Read storefront (4812 North Broadway) saying that "Provisions Uptown" has applied for a package liquor license at that location. (Apparently the previous deal for a store associated with Independent Spirits at that location fell through.)

Someone with knowledge of the process says it is a "high-end wine and cheese shop" and that the store - if it gets its license - would be an offshoot of Rogers Park Provisions on Glenwood.

He adds that "Online photos and reviews are very encouraging." A look at RPP's Facebook page has us nodding in agreement.

We understand that there was a meeting with neighbors in the immediate vicinity of the store a couple weeks ago, who gave it their approval.

*Thank you to reader JK for taking the photo of the sign and making us aware of this latest development.

  1. Well I'm sure our moral betters of the "Keep Uptown Down" variety will be "whining" about this.

I should take the big "cheesy" grin off my face.
