Help Kids With Safe Trick-or-Treating

Those ghouls at Buena Park Neighbors are at it again, sponsoring safe trick or treating for thousands of kids on Halloween night.  This year it takes place on Wednesday, October 31, 6:30pm - 8:30 pm, and will be on Kenmore from Irving Park to Montrose, including the 1000 block of  West Buena.  But they need some help!  Check it out in their latest newsletter:
  • SAFE HOUSE VOLUNTEERS:  If you reside on Kenmore between Irving Park and Montrose, and are interested in participating as a Safe House for our little tick-or-treaters, please contact Shannon Witeaker so that BPN may mark your residence as a safe house for the many children that attend the Buena Pumpkins Event every year.
  • SAFETY VOLUNTEERS:  We would love to have you join us this year as a volunteer for monitoring the location and making sure that our children are safe. We provide safety vests and ask that you provide your own flashlight. If you are interested in participating or if you have friends that would like to help, please contact Shannon Witeaker.
  • DECORATION CONTEST:  During the event we will also bestow the sixth annual George Ferak Halloween Decorations Award to the most bootifully decorated residence. Get your neighbors together and get creative!
  • BUENA CIRCLE PARK DECORATION:  We need about 10 people to help decorate the park.  We have many items from past years, but can always use new ones.  We can always use spider web material, witches, skulls, and the like.
  • CANDY DRIVE:   This year we will be holding our 2nd annual candy drive to help support the homes that participate in the Buena Pumpkins. Donations will be collected at Thorek Memorial Hospital at 850 West Irving Park Road, Dollop Coffee and Tea, Michael's and Awake Cafe and then it will be distributed to participating homes.
Buena Park is well known in Uptown as "THE" place for Halloween. Last year, more than 2,000 trick-or-treaters attended. We hope you'll consider lending a hand with and/or attending this amazing neighborhood event! Thank you so much to the neighbors who have already reached out to participate.

If you are interested in helping out in this year's Buena Pumpkins event, please contact us at Buena Park Neighbors and we will get back to you.

  1. Your e-mail links indicate one of them is "ert55" and the other is "ertert55" - mind correcting one or both of them?
