  1. Anyone know why Pumpkinpalooza was canceled in Margate Park this year? We've always loved that event and were sad to see that it wasn't on the Park District schedule this year.

  2. Sassy - remember that the city approves megamoney for fish farms and aldermanic follies, but our parks don't have much of an operating budget this year. This is an email from the President of the Margate Park Advisory Council:

"The Margate Park Advisory Council is looking for some additional support for the upcoming Halloween Drive In Movie at the Field House on Friday 10-30-09.

We are attempting to serve as many children as possible and as with all things this year funding is needed. To date, the Advisory Council is able to pay for candy, beverages, trick or treat bags for the After School Kids who are currently in the Park Program. We would like to try and extend that outreach to capture some of the trick or treaters who are not in the program but who look to our park as a safe haven to trick or treat and enjoy the festivities of the holiday.

With that, if anyone would like to help with these costs and contribute - please do so at the Field House front desk. Checks should be made payable to Margate Park Advisory Council and there is no such thing as a small donation. Every $5 will defray the cost of a movie, hot dog, popcorn, refreshment, treat bag and of course treats for 1 child.

Thanks to everyone in advance for your help!"

    Sad.

  3. The hypocrisy doesn't exactly bring out your feelings of generosity does it?

Human beings can only stand so much cognitive dissonance before they go nuts.

Thanks for the quick and informative reply, caring neighbor.

  4. I think the Trick or Treating on Southport is this Sunday October 25th from 1pm-4pm.

Everyone can walk over and see what a Ward looks like with business, families, and NO CRACKHEADS.

    Im in!
