Former Sheridan Plaza Hotel Is Crumbling

We have noticed scaffolding around the perimeter of the former Sheridan Plaza Hotel (at Wilson and Sheridan) for almost 2 years now. This is the same building that lost a large chunk of terra-cotta from the southwest corner in recent years (you can spot the new bricks on the right side of the photo). We hope the building can be saved but upon further inspection, most of the ornamentation has seen better days. We spotted workers high up top today repairing large sections of brick and terra-cotta. The gargoyles at the top have since been covered in a protective netting to keep them from crumbling.

  1. This place is just disgusting and I am curious how in the hell they have managed to keep the scaffolding up for over 2 years. I guarantee this would not be acceptable in other neighborhoods and it is a shame that it is in ours.

Anyone have any idea who we can start filing complaints with regarding this semi-permanent structure?
