Especially minimalls.

Eventually the land should be worth more used at its highest use, a skyscraper or large multiunit building at that location lawrence and sheridan. ONLY NOW is there finally a building going up at that assinine jewel parkinglot at Clark and Division. So I think it will happen eventually, but it has to be market driven (condos/apts), maybe during the next real estate miniboom/upturn.Philip McGregor Rogershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01580740928457414722noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1957537260422450632.post-35121307763614922272011-11-28T17:04:10.685-06:002011-11-28T17:04:10.685-06:00love the old photo's keep'em cmnlove the old photo's keep'em cmnDTNhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10539699267837618320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1957537260422450632.post-13890140944421949992011-11-28T15:44:05.836-06:002011-11-28T15:44:05.836-06:00I agree mini-malls really suck. But I gotta feeling they have higher occupancy rates then average because of the parking.

Maybe the real problem is some Chicagoans drive and drive only everywhere. Just a thought.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11678683729454882322noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1957537260422450632.post-87214131592930104062011-11-28T14:30:55.918-06:002011-11-28T14:30:55.918-06:00i agree w/jeffo. the corner does look better w/th...i agree w/jeffo. the corner does look better w/the older apartment/retail bldg there than the current strip-maul.

possibly the building was lost to fire. but it would seem that the original building would generate more income for the owner (apartments for rent + ground-floor retail space to let as well) than what is currently there ... though at the time of its demise, the area was in serious decline & rents were stagnating & prob not covering upkeep required.Eddiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06069769352345075395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1957537260422450632.post-84351677017922306112011-11-28T11:58:42.784-06:002011-11-28T11:58:42.784-06:00Wow that corner looks so much better without a min...Wow that corner looks so much better without a minimall. That is such a bad place for a minimall. Chicago has way too many minimalls IMHO.

It seems very hard to get rid of them because the owners are making good money, but its blight and causes alot of traffic.Philip McGregor Rogershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01580740928457414722noreply@blogger.com
