If you were wondering about the sudden arrival of shipping containers in the parking lot of Uptown's Jewel (4355 N. Sheridan at Montrose) a few months back (we were), we now know what Jewel has been up to.
As the following photos show, Jewel has been improving the customer experience at one of its crustiest stores. While work isn't yet done, the store is definitely looking a lot better.
Produce and Meat Sections Are Brighter
Fancy New Coolers in "The Bistro"
New flooring and taller shelving
New Signage
Kudos to Jewel and thanks to all working on this project overnight for making shopping a much better experience.
That jewel has been a disgrace for years…the word nasty comes to mind
ReplyDeleteWhy? Because it doesn't have bougie clientele? Get over it.
DeleteThey need to give Maps out. I can't find anything in this store now. And you ask a employee they are just as clueless as you are .
ReplyDeleteGrooming and attitude training would help
DeleteThey did this 8-10 years ago… it’s lipstick on a pig if the product doesn’t also improve.
ReplyDeleteWell said..just look at the jewel in northbrook if you want to see what is possible.
DeleteHopefully their produce will stop spoiling in 24 hours as well.
ReplyDeleteIt's a miracle that Jewel corporate is actually investing in a store... But if they really want to improve this store, they should buy the old Uptown Fitness next door to expand. Put a main entrance where the Uptown Fitness entrance was and add quick food options like a hot food bar. This fresh coat of paint isn't going to fix the cramped isles and limited options compared to other grocery stores. But then again, this is a Jewel... making nice stores like the Ravenswood Mariano's really isn't their m.o.
ReplyDeleteMariano's is overpriced garbage. You might as well shop at Whole Foods; at least you'd be getting good product.
Deletelol exactly. Couldn’t have said it better myself. I do think they should expand into the old Uptown Fitness though. That’s been an eyesore since before COVID. It’s embarrassing to look at and walk past.
