5 Story Residential Proposed For 4720 N. Sheridan (Updated)

4720 N. Sheridan, which sold in auction recently.
The former Uptown Ministry building at 4720 N. Sheridan could become the site of a five story residential development.

Demolition permits were issued to wreck and remove the one-story building. It is currently zoned B3-3. According to the building permit, the developer (still unknown) is planning a 5 story, 24 unit building with a 12 car garage and rear decks on the 3rd, 4th and 5th floors. A rooftop deck over the garage is being proposed.

This project will have a few hoops to jump through with the Truman Square Neighbors Block Club and the Chicago Department of Planning & Development, so stay tuned!

Building permit for 4720 N. Sheridan (City of Chicago)
Update: According to Ald. Cappleman, "At the time the building was purchased, the new owner had no plans for a zoning change and was going to build on the property as of right. A zoning change is being considered, and if that request is made, Truman Square Neighbors will weigh in. Because the building is under $10M, it would not go before the full 46th Ward Zoning & Development Committee."
