Permit parking and meter parking on Montrose is what is needed also. Also I am all for green space, but a few more pay lots would be helpful also. Of course there needs to be some kind of traffic management to help with crowds coming in and out, but making it harder to park would change so much. All those cook outs, birthday parties, reunions -- wouldn't be possible. Taking a bus (or two) with a grill, coolers and lawn chairs isn't going to happen. And it's cost prohibitive.
I know the days of my parents and grandparents are gone when they would sleep at the lakefront on hot summer nights, but the rest of the north side shouldn't suffer because the city can't figure out how to manage crowds and traffic.
Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09089816136056850862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1957537260422450632.post-21455938673750273242014-07-15T15:23:38.027-05:002014-07-15T15:23:38.027-05:00“Look at Oak Street Beach. There just aren't this many parking spots in such a concentrated area in other parts of the city,” Cappleman said. “I want the Park District and the police department to come up with a plan to discourage that many people from driving down there and parking.”

Charge for parking!!
