Free CTA Rides On First Day Of School For Chicago Students

CTA will again this year provide all students and accompanying adults with free bus and train rides on the first day of Chicago Public Schools’ school year, which is Tuesday, September 5. This program, which has been going on since 2011, provided 128,000 free rides on the first day of school in 2016.

CTA will continue to offer its low 75-cent fares for elementary and high school students Monday through Friday from 5:30am-8:30pm when school is in session. This applies to CPS students as well as private and parochial school students.

For more information, see the CTA's page on reduced fare student Ventra cards.
