The police sent out an alert warning about armed robberies taking place at businesses during the wee hours of the morning. There is a pattern developing in the 19th District where a male customer enters businesses between 2am and 3am, pretends to purchase something, and then implies that he has a weapon and robs the place.
According to the alert, one such incident happened in Lakeview, another in Lincoln Park, and another in Uptown.
But here's the thing: the address given for the Uptown robbery (on May 11th) is the 4000 block of Kenmore. We can't think of a single retail business on that block, let alone one that would be open at 2:30am.
So we'll pass the warning along to business owners, and if you know the person pictured, please give the police a call.
