Buena Park Spring Green Living Fair/Gardening Workday Happens Saturday

Buena Park Neighbors will host its Spring Clean and Green on Saturday, May 13, from 10am to noon.  This biannual event brings neighbors together to clean up and beautify the neighborhood by providing hands-on workdays in targeted areas within the neighborhood.

This Spring’s event will focus on the green spaces near the tunnel entrance to the Lakefront path at Buena and Marine.  Volunteers will help plant native flowers and other plants that provide food for wild pollinators and clean up the Peace Garden on the east side of the tunnel.

The event will also feature information and resources on how you can live green in Buena Park, including demonstrations on how to tune up your bike for summer, best methods for planting a window box, how to start seeds at home, do-it-yourself crafts and more. Chicago Market and other neighborhood organizations will also be joining to share information about its activities.

Updates on organizations and topics to be presented will be posted on the Buena Park Neighbors Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pg/BuenaParkNeighbors/events

The Fall 2016 Clean and Green focused on the public garden space at Ginkgo Gardens, 4055 N Kenmore.  Residents rebuilt walkways, planters, and a bench, prepared the garden for Winter and did general weeding and clean up.  Visitors will have the chance to receive discounts at local Buena Park vendors just for participating.

All are welcome to join either to volunteer at the Clean and Green or to visit the green fair.  Please dress comfortably and weather appropriate. In case of rain, the Facebook event page will announce postponements or cancellations
