CTA Progress & Closures: N/B Broadway Re-Opens, Work Begins On New Main Station

2/24/17 - Workers begin building the new Wilson station's foundation
CTA's rendering of the finished station
As work on the Wilson Red Line station continues, there is good news from the CTA -- late Friday, northbound Broadway was reopened to vehicular traffic after several months of closures. Please remember to patronize the businesses on that stretch!

Work continues on constructing new Track 3 (which is scheduled to open on March 13th), construction of the new east platform and (whoo-hoo) digging the new main station's foundation. These are the scheduled street closures for next week, Monday through Saturday:
  • Wilson will be closed to vehicular traffic 9am - 4pm between Broadway and Clifton. At least one sidewalk will be open to pedestrians at all times. Workers will be doing platform installation and beginning work on the new main station's foundations.
  • Broadway will be closed to vehicular traffic 8pm - 4am between Wilson and Leland. Sidewalks on both sides of Broadway will remain open with periodic closures. Workers will be installing rail material for new Track 3.
