Saturday evening at 8:20pm, there was an apartment fire at 4701 North Beacon, at the corner of Leland. Firefighters blocked off Beacon between Wilson and Lawrence. The damage seems to be limited and the building is open to residents tonight. If you have any further information, please put it in the comments.
I live at 4707 N. Beacon in the building right next to the unit that had the fire in it. Someone from my building called the fire in and the fire department responded in less than 2 minutes. It was limited to one unit, but could have been much worse. I'm grateful to the Uptown fire department for responding so quickly and professionally and preventing a potentially much more dangerous fire.
