It's the one morning each year when Lake Shore Drive is given over to non-motorized vehicles. Thank you to a reader for sharing her bird's-eye view of the very quiet and beautiful Drive. It will reopen to regular traffic at 11am.
I have always thought this was stupid, to clear LSD for bikers for about 4 hours. Trying to cross Marine Drive by foot, you run into bumper to bumper traffic and road rage. Wouldn't it make more sense to have a BIKE race on LSD, instead of bikers taking it over just to bike north to south and back?
If you don't like it, then feel free to contact your Alderman with your complaint. If your Alderman doesn't listen, then feel free to run for Alderman in 2019. That's about the only way your BIKE race idea will ever happen.
