Shots Fired At Hazel & Buena (Updated 2x)
We are being told, although it's unconfirmed, that the lobby of the high-rise at 833 West Buena was the site of a shooting, and it may have been the security guard at that building who shot an intruder. We are trying to get confirmation, but that's what witnesses on the scene are telling us.
The first few minutes after any news event are chaotic, so this is all unconfirmed at this time. We're getting a lot of requests to know what's going on, and that's what we are hearing. Don't take it as gospel until more facts come in.
Update: A little more information has come in from a reliable source. It states that the shooting victim was a 17-year-old shot in the hip. He was driven to Weiss Hospital by his brother, where he is in stable condition. The police have not confirmed who shot him, or why he was at the building, or if he lived there. If you have any information, please put it in the comments or write to us at email@example.com. We do not use sources' names, but we welcome information that we can pass along to readers.
Update: Per the Sun-Times, it was a drive-by shooting. "At 2:15 p.m., the 17-year-old boy was outside in the 800 block of West Buena Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain, police said. The boy later told police he saw a white or silver car drive away from the scene. He suffered a gunshot wound to the hip and took himself to Louis A. Weiss Memorial Hospital. He was later transferred to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where his condition was stabilized, police said."
