Thank you to reader Roderick Reves for these photos of the current situation on Argyle Street, as it undergoes a year-long conversion into Chicago's first shared street. Here's what Ald. Osterman said about it in his Friday newsletter:
- "Phase 1 (Broadway to CTA station): Concrete work is curing and tree grate forming continues. The installation of the waterproofing membrane will start next week. Installation of the brick pavers under and next to the CTA station should begin next week.
- Phase 2 (Winthrop to Kenmore): Excavation and pouring of concrete continues.
- Phase 3 (Kenmore to Sheridan): Excavation will begin on a 10' x 10' manhole to begin the installation of the electric conduit.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact the contractor for the project, Speedy Gonzales, at the onsite office or the 48th Ward Alderman's Office at 773-784-5277 or argyle@48thward.org.
Please continue to shop and dine locally on Argyle throughout this important infrastructure improvement project!

I wonder how all this construction is effecting the bottom $$ line? Downtown on Wabash, the jewelers are closing shop because of the L construction.
