Christmas Tree Recycling Available Beginning January 3rd

The big day is here, and now you may have a big tree in your home. Avoid leaving it in the alley if you can hold on until Saturday, January 3rd.

As usual, the City of Chicago is offering recycling for your de-nuded Christmas trees this year.

If you'd rather not have your tree end up in a landfill, you can bring it to selected city parks to have it changed into mulch, which will be available for free beginning January 6th.

Take off the stand, the tinsel, the lights, etc., and leave the tree in a tree corral set up at parks citywide between January 3rd and 17th.

There's one right in Uptown -- Margate Park, at 4921 N Marine.  Other nearby locations are
  • Lincoln Park, Cannon Dr. at Fullerton Ave. (Parking lot east of Cannon Dr.)
  • North Park Village, 5801 N. Pulaski Rd.
  • Warren Park, 6601 N. Western Ave.
Check out the entire list below.
