In The Market For A Clothes Dryer?

We recently heard from Joshua Mintzer, the owner of the former Borders building.  You might remember him from last autumn, when he gave away 100 large bookcases to anyone who wanted them.

He's asked UU to help spread the word that he has 150 new clothes dryers for sale at a steeply discounted price.  While this isn't the sort of thing we normally post, it's a nice nod back to a century ago, when the Loren Miller Store at the Borders location was one of the finest department stores in the city.  (Incidentally, Loren Miller named our community "Uptown" in 1915 and named the Lawrence-Broadway-Racine triangle "Uptown Square.")  A century later, if just for a weekend, the former Borders space will go back to selling home goods, just as it did when it was Loren Miller and Co., then Goldblatt's.

Anyway -- the dryers.  They're brand new Italian-made Ariston brand dryers, and he's already sold 200 of them. They'll be in stock at the Borders building on the weekend after Ribfest (July 11-13), but Josh will take reservations now.  They have a one-year warranty from the manufacturer.

They retail at A.J. Madison for $999, but they'll be sold here for $385.  They're 24" tall and stackable; you can see all the specs at the A.J. Madison site for the same model and color.

If you'd like to reserve one or have any questions for Josh, you can email him at jmintzer@saxonycap.com.

UU Note:  Since we were corresponding with Josh, we asked him if there were any definite plans yet for the future of the former Borders space. He replied, "Got a lot of irons in the fire, so stay tuned." Now you know as much as we do.
