Snow Plow Fever!

Has your street been plowed lately?

A web developer came up with a program using the city's GPS data so you can check if, and when, the snowplows came down your block.  As he says, "It shows what can be done when the city embraces open data. The more data they release, the more useful stuff we can build."

His program's called ClearStreets and you can find it here:  http://clearstreets.org/.

  1. You know, they kick us off our streets (one side at a time) to make sure the sweepers can get through and unblock the storm drains when we're not under 95 feet of snow. It would be REALLY awesome if they could do the same thing to PLOW the parking lanes on the residential streets. Even if they have to make huge piles in one or two spaces worth of street at the end of each block it would be a HUGE help for the other 90% of the street where we've lost about 1/3 or 1/2 of the available space because of the weird ways people have parked (and not moved since the last snow) and the ways the snow has piled up taking over half a space or more between each car. We're not predicted to get above freezing in the next TEN days, so it's not like this snow is going anywhere on it's own.
