If you want to know why the facade at Nick's Uptown on Sheridan Road is important, come and hear Heather Plaza-Manning speak on Egyptian architecture in America. You will learn about this movement and how it fits into Chicago architecture. This fascinating lecture lasts 45 minutes followed by 15 minutes for questions.
Heather Plaza-Manning is a preservationist and historian specializing in the "Egyptomania" movement in American popular culture, and is working on a book to chronicle her discoveries in this area. She is a graduate of the Historic Preservation program at the School of the Art Institute, and currently works for Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc.
The Uptown Library is at 929 W. Buena Ave. and the presentation will begin at 7pm.
