Missing Teens Found Thanks To Uptown Resident

Many readers saw the news story Sunday about the so-called "Michigan's Romeo and Juliet" (or, as we like to think of them, "Michigan's Most Inconsiderate Kids") being found safe in the parking lot of the Mobil station at Broadway and Sheridan.  We're glad these very young teenagers are safe and alive after two weeks of sleeping in their SUV in a very active part of the city.

They were found thanks to Uptown resident Mark Zipperer, who saw the young man, recognized him and the vehicle, double-checked online at Starbucks, and called 911.  Many of you may know Mark, from his sponsorship of BPN free concerts, his community work, or from using him as your real estate broker.

Congratulations and thank you, Mark, you did a wonderful thing.

  1. 100 Years or so ago, they would be considered full fledged adults that would have been allowed the opportunity to work and date whomever they liked. Thank God we have brought back good old imperial fascism. Sarcasm aside, stealing the car [and later damaging it] was a jerk move.

  2. Yes, and 100 years ago, life expectancy was 47 years of age, the average wage in the United States was 22 cents per hour, the American flag had just 45 stars and the leading causes of death were pneumonia, influenza and diarrhea.

Thankfully, humanity has progressed a little bit so we don't have to die on the crapper--even if that means that 2 thoughtless adolescents can't date whomever they like..
