Final Argyle Night Market Begins At 4pm

Ald. Osterman sent out an email today reminding readers about the last Night Market of the season:

Dear Neighbor,

Join us tonight for the final Argyle Night Market from 4pm - 8pm on Argyle St. between Kenmore and Sheridan Road. The inaugural Argyle Night Market has been a huge success, with hundreds of people visiting each week, both from the neighborhood and from around the City.

Tonight, the Vietnamese Association of Illinois helps us close the market with a celebratory lantern parade in honor of the Harvest Moon Festival. The parade will include a dragon dance, martial arts and sing-along. Before and after the parade, enjoy this week's musical performance of Iggy Yoakam & His Famous Pogo Ponies, an eight-piece country rock band. Formed in 1993, it is their 20th anniversary and you may have seen them play at Rib Fest this year.

The Argyle Night Market was a brand new concept for the City of Chicago, mixing a traditional farmer's market with a small street festival. This year, the Night Market concept was piloted only on Argyle Street and in Logan Square. So many people helped make it successful and I especially want to thank Uptown United, Uptown Business Partners, DCASE and all the vendors, entertainers and volunteers who participated every week to make it happen.

Tonight's vendors include: Farmer Nick, Armstrong Farms, Tai Nam Grocery, Phoenix Bean LLC, First Fruits, Beijo de Chocolat, Xong Xong, Karl’s Craft Soups, Empanada Argentina, Paradise Products, Blessings, Tank Noodle, Sun Wah Bar-B-Cue, Hai Yen, Uptown Brownie, and Mama Tope African Food.

The weather forecast is showing a clear night, so I hope to see you on Argyle Street!
