Jerry Goldner, the wildlife photographer who's wowed us in the past with his photos of Uptown's snowy owls and peregrine falcons, sent in these pictures and says, "The hummingbirds are back!  Please tell your readers that they need to put out their hummingbird feeders.  I took these photos on Saturday.  Folks can also view them at the Montrose & Jarvis bird sanctuaries on the lakefront, North Park Village Nature Center (Pulaski south Peterson) and at The Botanic Gardens east of the English Garden on the hill."

  1. Look for the trumpet vines in the area. They have large orange blossoms which are blooming right now and they are hummingbird magnets. I've been seeing them on Sunnyside, on Kenmore Ave and on Beacon. They used to be prolific on the fence along Challenger Park but they got a little too aggressive (the vines, not the hummingbirds) and were removed. Thanks for posting the beautiful images!

  2. I've seen them several times this week on my porch! They like my petunias.
