Modern Architecture "Found" At CPS, Uptown
Put this under the "you learn something new every day" file:
A reader wrote in to say, "I always thought the Brennemann School looked interesting architecturally (I can see it out of my window). The playground equipment on display in front looks so cool (although it looks to be off limits .... probably due to being too dangerous for today's kids).
Your story about the possible closing of the school prompted me to do some quick research. Turns out it is a Bertrand Goldberg building! It looked very different when it was built, and had concrete curving arches on the the back section which have been removed or covered up. See more at this website. I think your readers would enjoy this, and it is fitting with the trending saga of the teardown of Goldberg's Prentice Hospital."
