Red Line Stations Will Open On Time;
Other Work To Take Longer

RedEye's Tracy Swartz was at Ald. Osterman's CTA meeting last night about the Red Line improvements in progress and in store, and comes away with the news that -- while the station work will most probably be on schedule -- the extra work (viaducts and eliminating slow zones) will take a little longer.  Intermittent road closures will take weeks longer than the station work.

Well, that's life in the big city.  We're glad to be getting new stations and faster rides, and it should all be over by the end of the year.  By this time in 2013, the work delays will be forgotten.

Unfortunately, an owner of an Argyle Street business spoke to say his weekend business has gone down since the station closed.  We hope people revert to their old shopping habits and learn to live with the construction.  After all, it's all part of "the Chicago way."
