According to
Chicago Magazine's Dish column, celebrity chef Tony Hu will be opening another branch of
Lao Sze Chuan in the space recently
vacated by Marigold:
Lao Mala, a seventh Chinatown spot from Mr. Chinatown himself, Tony Hu, soft-opens today in the former Lure space (per The Stew). Hu also divulged to Dish that he plans to open a second Lao Sze Chuan at 4832 North Broadway (the former Marigold space) on September 1.
Eater Chicago has a longer, more detailed article here, which includes the tidbit that the restaurant will open in September, but not on September 1st.
Lao Szechuan and the other Tony Hu Lao restaurants are great and this is going to be a very noteworthy addition to Uptown's culinary offerings. The Lao restaurants are favorites for foodies and chefs and are liked by the Chinese population as well. He was among the first to mix up the cuisine offerings in Chinatown and has done much to really ramp up the area. I am very excited about this!
