Retail Plans For Wilson

Now that the CTA is finally getting serious about fixing and filling the retail spaces at the Wilson el, here's the marketing flyer for prospective renters.  If you know of any companies or franchises that might be interested in coming to Uptown, please forward them the flyer and urge them to come our way.

  1. How about a "pop-up" Police Station!

  2. Where is the mention of any station/building renovations? Did I miss it? So far it just screams "Hey! Move into our sh*tty space." While I am glad to see marketing of this retail space, I doubt any decent business would want to move it to a crumbling, unrine soak building.

  4. Ugh...that Popeye's sign looks so ugly now that I know it used to be the main entrance to the station.

  5. Now I'm kind of Confused & Disappointed... I was hoping that CTA would Re-Open the Original "Uptown Station" Main Entrances to go up to Wilson EL Platform as it originally was. Now entering at the side is not appealing, it is like saying, "Come to my beautiful house, but oh wait you can't use the front doors, just go all the way to the backside door." WTF? ugh.)

So, having a retail taking in place of the Main Entrance will be an Eyesore to see both "Uptown Station" and a Business sign right below it as "Popeye's" sign did. And a bit confusing for visitors to look for entrances.

I'm sorry, CTA needs to pull out the drawing board AGAIN. (Hint Hint: Target, Please take over as Apple did!) Just Move the retail to the sides of that Uptown Station building, or be creative to have retails spaces as we all go thru the Main Entrance to the platform or something. Anyone have any Pictures of what the Main Entrances of the "Uptown Station" looks like from the INSIDE?

  6. Yeah, Target sponsoring the station is probably the best way to get improvements...the city is too broke to spend the money if it doesn't have to (yet it's losing money with all those empty stores).

  7. These retail tenants, and the recent CTA renovation work, is all temporary.

When CTA rebuilds the Red Line in a few years, Wilson will get rehabbed from top to bottom. (It'll need to be bigger and nicer if Lawrence is closed.)
