It's A Bird... It's A Plane

Those of us who were awakened by the sound of fighter jets over Uptown on Monday now know it was the Air Force's Thunderbirds, thanks to the fast camera of one of UU's readers and frequent contributors.

"Before 10am today the Thunderbirds came flying by! Looked them up on the internet and when they would be performing and then linked to them in a short blog with a few photos that I could capture with my sleepy eyes. Wonder if the stealth bomber will unexpectedly appear again this year?!?"

Take a look at her photos here, including the one above.

  2. Does the stealth bomber ever show up expectedly? That wouldn't be very stealthy.

  3. Am I the only person I know who still gets creeped out at pictures of planes flying just a little too close to tall buildings? Oh I know, it's been almost 8 years, get over it, right?

  4. gayle: I believe about a few hundred thousand people were pretty darn spooked when Air Force One #2 was flying low and slow around Manhattan just a few months ago to update the White House gift shop photo of Air Force One with the Statue of Liberty.

This is video from Battery Park on the lower west side of Manhattan of that incident.
