Great news for soccer player in Chicago. Urban grass fields get burned out. Turf fields enable continuous use of valuable public space by participants of all backgrounds.

I hope this doesn't create the same devisive nonsense as the Latin School field.

"Nonsense??" Using public land for a private school's use?

Private funding for the public good. Some priority access for the sponsor does not seem unreasonable. The public good created by the Latin School project far outweighs the costs. While I agree there must be a balance of interests a public/private partnership like this is one of the few means to get better sporting facilities built in the City. Much needed given the levels of obesity among urban youths.
